Gabriel Sunday Afolayan is a renowned Nigerian writer, journalist, lecturer, and public affairs commentator. His diverse range of interests encompasses prose fiction, poetry, and creative essays, showcasing his versatility and talent. Afolayan's journey into the world of writing began during his university years when he started contributing articles, short stories, and local news to national newspapers and magazines. He holds a Master's degree in Mass Communication from Nnamdi Azikwe University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in "Media and Ethno-political Crises in Nigeria" at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Afolayan's extensive experience in journalism is reflected in his early career with notable publications such as the National Concord, The Guardian, and Issues news magazine. Through his work, he developed skills in investigative and interpretative journalism. Moreover, he has also made significant contributions to the manufacturing industry, attaining the position of Marketing Manager in a vegetable oil company. Presently, Afolayan imparts knowledge as a lecturer, teaching journalism, media, and communication courses at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Nigeria. Furthermore, his insightful perspectives on societal issues have made him a regular guest on television and radio stations in Ondo State.
The literary achievements of Gabriel Sunday Afolayan are truly remarkable. His debut novel, "Beyond the Silent Grave," garnered critical acclaim and received nominations for prestigious awards. Afolayan has authored numerous other books, including "Romoke: The Little Orphan," and co-edited "Pa Jeje's Legendary Tales" and "The Sunshine Tales." These works have been widely reviewed by Nigerian newspapers and esteemed scholars from institutions around the world, solidifying his reputation as an influential writer. His books are frequently utilized as reference materials in universities, testifying to their academic significance.
